Barely after a day I have unpacked our Baguio luggage, here I am packing again stuffs for our Boracay trip tomorrow. This is definitely the busiest holiday I ever had...two out of town trips in just one week. Tiring and overwhelming but I'm surely enjoying the quality time I spend with my boys. After this trip, we still have plenty of activities lined up..my sister's and stepmom's arrival, reunion with high school friends, and my sister's wedding. Sheesh. Certainly, lots of photo opps but I just hope that I do find time to upload and blog about them as they happen.
Meanwhile I have to get going to retire the night and recharge for tomorrow's trip. But I need to do an errand for my folks first to search online for a nearby
door hardware store.
I won't be bringing my lappy so expect updates from me when we get back next week.
So here's how the little one looked like the other night while we wait for the clock to strike 12 and start greeting Merry Christmas to everyone.

We attended the anticipated mass at 8 PM then upon getting home, he slept through the night. The ending, we didn't have a nice family Christmas eve portrait. Also, the opening of gifts was postponed until Christmas morning as oppose to our tradition to have it on the eve of Christmas. But regardless of the time, we all had a blast opening our gifts especially the little one. What did he enjoy the most..ripping the wrappers! As for us, nope, we didn't get our long time wish
pop up tv. But I'm overly delighted with our equally long time wish, a DSLR.
Posting a meme before I checked out these coilovers that a friend is yakking about over chat.

We were supposed to have our Christmas eve family pictorial but wasn't able to do so because of the little one who soundly slept in the couch. We were also supposed to open gifts but since he didn't wake up last midnight, the husband and I just opened the few that we have. He got a few
office supplies from his colleagues and guess what he received from their exchange gift...a Nicholas Sparks book!
I'm trying to upload a few snapshots taken last night but Flickr isn't cooperating with me at the moment. Hopefully, I'll have them all uploaded by tomorrow noon.
I'm in the process of resizing our Baguio trip pictures so I can easily and fastly upload them onto my Flickr account. Honestly, I won't be able to blog about the whole experience with pictures since I have about 570 pics to resize and edit (put watermark on). Although I have the Faststone Photo Resizer on my lappy, I don't have much time still to organize my thoughts and blog how the whole trip went since I have to finish packing for our Boracay trip which will be on Saturday. So for the mean time, I might just sneak in a few random photos to share. And oh, our Nikky (the DSLR) is to be blamed for the tons of pictures we took. I'm so addicted of using it that I now have a hard time sifting through all these pics. And seeing all these again makes me want to go back to Baguio again. In fact, we setup the
home theater lighting a while ago and popped in and watched the videos we took and oh boy...all of us wish that Baguio is just nearby so we can go there anytime.
Aside from strawberries, peanut brittle, pine trees and Igorots, Baguio is known for this Lion's Head. You know you're already within the vicinity of the breezy city if you've passed this big structure of a Lion's Head along Kennon Road. Of course, we didn't pass up this photo opportunity and so here it is, a family picture with the infamous big rock head. Yes, kakagising lang ni Asher (actually ginising lang) kaya ganyan ang itsura.

More Baguio pics in a while.
Holiday breaks are supposedly relaxing and fun but in my case, it isn't purely bed of roses. Since Asher's nanny was contracted for a limited three month term only and since we have set two out of town trips throughout the holiday and we can't tag her along due to practical reasons, I have no choice but to attend to the little one's needs full time without much aid from anybody (except the husband who can't also do much especially if the little one demands for me). And so along the holiday and travel preps, mommy duties to an overly active 9 month old lil boy keep my hands tied and leaving me exhausted and physically drained at the end of the day. I really do want to de-stress. But with the limited time I have, it really seems it's next to impossible. I want to have a massage, watch the DVDs I bought the other week or simply read the parenting magazines that were delivered last week. Ever since I became a mom, parenting books and mags keep me abreast of everything I need to know about parenthood. They keep me company since no one's by my side to guide the newbie mom in me. Aside from the very resourceful What To Expect The First Year by Heidi Murkoff, I'm thinking of expanding my mini-library of parenting books. I've learned about
Dr Daniel Amen and I got interested in his New Skills for Frazzled Parents: The Instruction Manual That Should Have Come with Your Child. I certainly need some coaching from him with regards to honing further my parenting skills. Dr. Amen has taught this parenting course for the past 15 years and he has helped a lot of struggling moms (and dads) in administering "superior" parenting skills to their children. I bet reading this isn't only de-stressing but very fruitful as well with all the learnings and information to get.
I haven't posted in the last four days or so because, as mentioned, we were up there in the cool mountains of Baguio enjoying real quality time with the family. We brought the laptop along thinking that there might be a wifi connection to hook onto but lo and behold, there isn't any in the hotel. But it's good actually to take some break time from online works and routines to spend a grand time with the family.
And so, amidst the Christmas day festivity tomorrow, I need to unpack our luggage, have the clothes washed and pack again because our holiday getaway isn't through yet. We're bound southwards in two days and this time, it'll be a beach trip. We're indeed busy and wanderlusts this holidays, right?
So there, have to go. I still have to open the
promotional bags that a lady handed us a while ago.
I totally forgot that Asher has just two pants in his closet, the rest are shorts, rompers and onesies as his going out attire. And so with our impending Baguio trip and since I can no longer go to the mall and buy pants at the last minute, I just ordered these "babylegs" from Proud Mama Store just this noon. These will be worn to keep his legs warm even if he wears his shorts and rompers. These babylegs can also be used as arm warmers. Here's what Sheryl of Proud Mama Store say about these babylegs:
In a tropical country like ours, it's not often that you carry around a jacket. Which leaves you in a pickle when you go to a mall or your kids' playschool where the airconditioning is very strong. Babylegs is a convenient way to keep little legs and arms warm when you all of a sudden find yourself in a place that's a bit chilly. And they take no more space in your diaper bag than a pair of adult socks!
Beyond all of these benefits, these warmers make a BIG fashion statement on little arms and legs.

Here are the colors that I ordered.

And since she has a buy 2 take 1 promo, I got this for free:
I was so delighted this noon when I saw Asher playing by himself with a mental game. He has this piece of paper that he hides under the table cloth cover, covers it then after a few seconds he pulls up the cover and look for the piece of paper. At first I thought he just chanced upon it but I was surprised when he did it over and over again. Now he knows the concept of hide-and-seek and I'm so happy with this mental development. It's indeed another milestone to add to his baby journal. I'm so amazed how fast he's developing. I immediately buzzed his Dad about this via YM and replied that Asher will definitely grow up as smart, wise and most probably techie as he is. Well, I couldn't agree more. Because Asher's Daddy is indeed smart. I won't be surprised in the future if they have deep talks and I getting lost to hear them discussing about techie stuffs like programming codes or
data integration software even. I'm currently reading about this Syncsort product and came to know that it's a software for data protection and data management. Perhaps, when Asher grows up and establish a career in IT, he'd be able to fully explain to me how this works and how Syncsort Incorporated continues to deliver and be the leading developer of such high performance software.
Our Baguio trip is just four days away and yet I haven't started packing. I should start doing it now since Saturday will be a very busy one with a wedding that we'll be attending in the afternoon. Eeekk..wish me luck. I hope I won't forget anything. It's a fact that travelling with an infant is seemingly going on a trip with the whole house in tow. I wonder how many luggage will fill the van.
I hope when we travel to Nevada next year, packing wouldn't be as hard as this. Geez, I'm so excited to watch the best
Las Vegas Shows there is.
Remember Bif's reply a few days ago, well, Santa finally replied to Asher's letter. Here's what Santa has to say to the little boy:
Dear Asher, |
Thank you for your letter! Up here at the North Pole, we have been very busy this year! The elves are really excited that Christmas Day is almost here. They have been working day and night getting all the toys ready for Christmas Eve. Mrs. Claus made us her extra special chocolate chip cookies last night since we've been working so hard. They taste great with a big glass of milk! Once my sleigh is packed and ready to go, I'll be off on my journey around the world. I'm reading your letter right now, and it looks like you've been a very nice boy this year. That makes me so happy. Keep up the good work! While you are asleep on Christmas Eve, the reindeer will quietly land my sleigh so I can tiptoe into your home. I see that you like books. I like books too. Mrs.Claus and I love to read every night in front of the fireplace. We read adventure books, mystery books, funny books and Christmas stories during the holidays. The elves have been very busy this year finding many new books for Christmas! Oh, the elves are calling me so I must go now. They probably need me to check my toy list to make sure we have all the toys packed. Don't worry, we'll be ready for the big trip! Ho! Ho! Ho! Have a Merry Christmas! Your Special Friend, |

As posted last week, I have started planning for the little one's March birthday party. Well, it may be a little too early but as I've said, our family will be busy in the weeks to come because of my sister's January wedding and of course, the holidays. But I am not yet preparing in full swing actually. I'm still in the conceptualization stage and started to book those suppliers that need to touch base with in this initial planning stage. I have a tendency to cram so to address that I have to take little steps towards the party as early as now. Conceptualizing is never too early right? In fact, the husband and I already have an idea how the little one will celebrate his second birthday party. We might go for an
all inclusive vacation packages somewhere, so it'd just be an intimate family affair. Karisma Resorts have Azul Beach as their family-friendly signature resort and I learned more about it through their site. They have great food, fun people, serene and calm beach and even alluring souvenirs like
silver jewelries. Now let's see if how much budget we should save and allot for that.
Thanks to this chart from
Kelly Mom, I'm now somehow convinced that Asher's slow weight gain is just normal for his age and for an exclusive breastfed baby who's so active despite him having a hearty appetite.

But I would be happier though if he could at least get back to his previous weight before he got sick. I can't helped but be bothered whenever I see and carry his six month old cousin who seems now heavier then he is. Then reading a
Girl Talk thread about their baby's weight, doesn't help either and makes me think that my son's underweight (imagine one mom posted that her 4 month old baby weighs 7.5 kilos!). I know the pressure's just on me and I should just focus that as long as my son's eating/nursing just right, healthy, developing and thriving well, then, nothing's to worry about. Even her Pedia isn't concerned about this and even confirms that at his age, it's just normal to have a decreasing weight gain just like kellymom's chart indicates.
Hay stop na ang pagkapraning!
It's just now that I realized I don't have any holiday-themed outfit yet on Christmas eve. I don't think I have the time still to shop especially that malls nowadays are jampacked. So perhaps, I'll just buy myself
Holiday Glass Frames From Zenni Optical.

The popular online eyeglasses shop have a wide collection of holiday-themed glass frames at very reasonable prices. In fact they have
$ 8 Complete Rx Eyeglasses that are well sought by those who wants premium quality but are budget conscious. Zenni Eyeglasses are definitely made for them. Back to the eyeglasses above, absolutely lovely for the Holidays, isn't it?
Asher has so much smilestones these past few days and I'm so proud at the same time marvel how fast his motor and mental development has been recently.
Just last week (December 10 to be exact), he was able to stand up on his own by holding on to the sofa's back cushion. Then later on stepped sidewards (cruising) while holding on to the sofa's wooden railing to reach for his toy placed a few inches away. Seems like we will have an early little walker in the house before he turns one. We really have to baby proof the house as we now have an active and mobile baby. Even in the garage, I ask the husband to take all the barriers and stuffs that may cause him trip like the
tire chains when he's riding his walker.

Here's what the little one is up to whenever we're in his Lola's house in Frisco. Every weekend afternoon, he loves to wander around the garden with his walker, enjoying the vast garage space. Lunging forward, he enjoys running after Jumong and even bumping the parked vehicles of Lola. I just hope that his walker is durable so he can use it for long or do we need to
buy auto insurance for it (if there's such a thing for baby mobile toys LOL)?
Asher wrote a letter to Santa through
http://www.northpole.com/. Nope, Santa hasn't replied yet but Bif, the mailroom elf wrote this in reply. Asher mentioned in his letter the gifts he wishes to receive on Christmas. He wrote: "clothes, books, toys and
talking watches (haha, as if he knows already how to read time)". Check out this cool site and have your kids write a letter to Santa, too. I'll share Santa's reply once Asher receives it in a day or two.
Dear Asher,
Thank you for sending your letter to Santa.
This is a very busy time here at the North Pole and Santa has lots of letters to read but he does read and answer each and every one.
It usually takes Santa two days to answer a letter. Please come back then to Santa's Secret Village at www.northpole.com. You will need your name and password to read your letter.
Name: Asher
Password: ********
Why not print this page now so you don't forget them?
Merry Christmas!
Bif, the Mailroom elf
I weighed myself just the other day and I was surprised to see that I further lost 2 pounds. You see, while everyone tries to trim down their weight and take
Fenphedra to lose those unwanted flabs, I, on the other hand, do the opposite. I'm trying to gain weight and get back to my average pre-pregnancy weight. For the record, I'm 12 pounds lighter than my average. I've been exclusively breastfeeding for more than 9 months and that's the main reason of the weight loss despite of my voracious appetite. Ever since, I've been on the skinny side so there's no wonder why I lost fast my pregnancy fats. Aside from keeping up with my appetite, any suggestions on how could I gain weight while breastfeeding?
I've made the announcement
here that we've got a new baby last week. No, I'm not pregnant or has just given birth. I'm pertaining to our little Nikky which hubby and I bought as our common anniversary-and-christmas-gift-in-one for each other. Big thanks to the husband's bonus and my online earnings, we're finally toying a Nikon DSLR which has been a long time dream. We could have bought it at Hidalgo where it is cheaper but JT Photoworld is a lot nearer from our place and the price difference is just a matter of a few thousand bucks anyway. We still got it a reasonable price as compared to the ones offered in malls. It comes with a 18-55mm VR lens and a few freebies like a camera bag, a lenspen, and a 2 GB
SD card. We've taken so far just a few test shots and we haven't fully utilized it yet since we're still learning the features and the correct settings that must be achieved.
Just three months to go and Asher will turn one. With the busy holidays and family affairs ahead, it's just the right time to start planning for his first birthday bash. I don't want to end cramming and panicking come February although I have a tendency to do that. So anyway, here are just some of the things I have done already:
1. Venue - I have checked the availability of our chosen venue here in Makati via phone and so far the party date is still open for booking. We'd also get to save Php 2000 because Makati residents get a special rate. Hooray for that! With that said, I'll be securing our reservation by formally booking and paying the rental fee within the week.
2. Caterer - I have in mind the caterer we're likely to get but I just have to confirm their accreditation with the venue.
3. Photographer - Booking John Aguas in progress. I tried contacting Ging Lorenzo first but unfortunately, she's already booked on the party date. John and Ging are my top 2 choices so either one of them is okay. I'm just appalled with how Ging responded so slowly with my inquiries though. It took her 2 follow up emails from me before she reverted and said that she's no longer available on the party date. Still contemplating whether to get John's video services as well.
4. Guest list - That's right, as early as now, I have started drafting it so we'll know how much budget should we allot (or save for) and to make sure not to miss anyone.
5. Party Theme - It's actually a toss between Elmo (his favorite for his clothes or should I say my favorite for him LOL) or the generic Jungle Safari or Madagascar theme. I have scoured online for party ideas and supplies for both themes and I now have in mind the decors, prizes and giveaway loots.
6. Cake - No other cake artist in mind other than my favorite Emily Uy. She did our wedding cake and Asher's baptismal cake and since she never disappoint us, it just follows that she'll also do Asher's first birthday cake. I'll get in touch with her on a later month since she's easy to talk with naman.
7. Venue Stylist - Of course, I'll be contracting the services of my beloved CWL sister, Jacque of Partyboosters. I'm not getting her for the reason that she's a friend but I truly love her works and I know how she puts her heart in everything she does so I know we're in good artistic hands and mind. *Let's chat soon, sis!
8. Host / Magician / ventrilusionist - Initially contacted Wanlu but his rate is way beyond our budget. I'll talk this over with Jacque for other recommendations.
9. Invitation / Tarpaulin - I'm in charge of this. I'll extract all my creative juices for a wonderful digiscrapped invite layout.
So that's what I have done so far and need to prepare in the months to come. There's still plenty of time so I'm just taking things easily.
The husband has a stubborn cough that won't just go away despite him taking Lagundi and engulfing oranges for a week now. I'm fervently praying that the bug goes away real fast because the first time Asher contracted colds and cough, he got them from his coughing Dad. Yesterday I heard the little one frequently sneezing which is a possible sign for an impending colds then consequently, cough. I had him undergo nebular and salinase treatment immediately to prevent it from worsening. Although, we have a
health insurance, I don't want him undergoing again the same trauma and asthma difficulties that he had last month.

"To My Little Asher, I just know you'll grow up as goofy as your Dad. I couldn't help but laugh while taking these pictures of you and Daddy goofing around. He just got home from work and every night, Daddy doesn't seem tired because he comes home to a jolly and adorable son who brings nothing but pure delight to everyone."
At infancy stage, it's never too early for parents to plan and save for their baby's education in the future. As education's the best gift that parents can give to their children, it also takes a fortune just to have their education from pre-school through college secured. I remember, my grade school tuition fee was only about Php 6,000 per school year in a private school. But now everything has immensely shoot up and I won't be surprised if Asher's grade and high school tuition fees a few years from now would cost us a hundred thousand per year. But then again as we want the best for him, we will definitely painstakingly work hard for it no matter how much it'd cost us.
Aside from the economic life getting tougher and things getting much advanced, it's no wonder why education's getting more expensive as years pass. Have you noticed how high tech and progressive education is presently? Now, one can obtain an
online degree by enrolling in an online university or facility like Capella. It is an accredited, full online university that offers 111 graduate and undergraduate specializations and 15 certificate programs to students across 50 states of the US nd 45 other countries. Check out their recent Inside Online Education podcast featuring a discussion of financial aid options at Capella.

Just eleven days to go and the little one will finally experience the cool breeze of Baguio. The whole family will be spending a grand time in the Pine City a few days before Christmas. I'm so excited since it'll be the little one's first ever vacation. For sure, we'll visit the popular tourist destinations like the Burnham Park, Mines View Park and the Wright Park where big (must be the
horse supplements they ingest) and little horses can be hired for tourists to ride on and wander around the park. Hubby might be the one to take the little one for a brief ride. This trip will surely be grand and memorable for the whole family. I can't wait.
Here are among his milestones and other firsts on his 9th Month:
1. First hospital confinement. I blogged about it here, here and here.
2. First tooth erupted. Two weeks later, the tooth beside it sprouted too so that gives him two fully erupted lower front teeth on his 9th month birthday.
3. First magazine photoshoot. Here's a sample portrait taken:
4. Received his first Gymboree and Old Navy
loot.
5. First time to wear a polo shirt for her
Ninang Ena's wedding. (No he didn't wear a
corset). What a handsome baby hunk he was in a formal wear.
6. Learned how to
kiss Mommy.
7. Enunciated and called Mommy.."Ma-ma".
8. Expanded his
"Where" antics.
9. Got and rode for the first time his walker.
10. Learned how to wave bye-bye.
11. Learned how to do "give me five".
12. Tasted his first biscuit and taho.
13. Given the go signal to eat home-cooked viands.
Last December 2, Asher celebrated his 9th month birthday. Here's the layout I whipped for my December Daily Life Album: Day 2, featuring the little celebration we had.

Journalling:We celebrated your 9th month birthday on this second day of Christmas month. We had KFC Chicken and Goldilocks Choco Cherry Torte for a little feast. You were a little crabby towards the end of the day because you were already sleepy. Daddy rendered overtime at work so he came home late to a sleeping you. We waited for you to wake up so we can blow the 9 candles on your cake and eat our special dinner. Happy 9th month birthday, my sweetie.View the credits
here.
We just had a little feast, so that we won't be needing
Slimquick Cleanse to discard the unwanted fats after wards. We're saving the bigger celebration for his first birthday in three months time.
All year round a mother's job is extremely demanding. And it's very rare that her efforts are expressively recognized and commended. It's no doubt that being a mother is the most difficult job in the world. If anyone deserves the best, it should be the moms. So in special occasions like birthdays, Mother's Day and Christmas, it's just right to treat her to something "luxurious". Take her to relaxing places to unwind, pamper her, a gift card to Ikea for home furniture and accessories or surprise her with a
Designer Jewelry she's eyeing to have. Holsted Jewelers offer fashionable, high quality diamonds that every Mom would love to behold. Here's just a few Sterling Silver and Genuine Freshwater Pearls that they offer.

Shining. Shimmering. Splendid. It's pure enchantment, isn't it?
I'm running out of blogging time this noon and before I research about
Lipovox and before I forget the important updates that I have to make, I have to make a list to serve as my guide.
1.) 9th Month Birthday
2.) Milestones and Firsts at Nine Months
3.) The December Daily Album Project
4.) His Kids Time Calendar Setcard / Portrait
Looks like I'll be doing a blog marathon again tonight.
...it pours.
...and it even floods.
Yikes, can somebody help me organize my thoughts so my mind can function well this noon?
Four down...fourteen more to go.
Your Christmas Stocking Will Be Filled With Little Wrapped Presents
|

You've made Santa a very happy fellow this year.
Don't worry - what happens at the North Pole stays at the North Pole!
|
I may be too old to believe in and wait for him but now that I have a son, I can't wait to bring the Santa vocabulary into our household again. My Christmas as a child were a lot fun and gratifying because of him and that I'll definitely let my son enjoy this holiday custom too. I'm so excited for Christmas. I heard that Santa prepared lots of presents for Asher and even though he may be too young to understand about the concept of gift-giving yet, I know that Asher would be so much thankful for all the presents he would be receiving.
It's Christmas time once again and it means spending time. How was your expenditures so far? I know you're with me when I say that it's tough to manage our finances in this season of heavy spending. Thanks to bonuses and 13th month pay, those in the workforce are definitely lucky to have extra moolah to splurge throughout the season. Sadly, there are those who go overboard and spend all they've got leaving their wallets holed and buried deep with debt even, through reckless usage of their credit cards. Then after the holidays, what remains are zero bank balances and interests soaring high. If you are caught with such circumstance, worry not as there are so called
roadmaps out of debt. You can
get out of debt with debtfreellc.com, a consulting firm that customizes a financial plan that will aid you become financially independent. But it would be wise and it helps a lot if one develops the habit of frugal spending in the first place.
Yikes, how could I let three days just flew by without having this blog updated. I have lots of updates and entries about the little one but let me organize my thoughts first. As usual, my hands are full of tasks online and offline. I know nothing's new. I'll be back with lots of updates to share about the 9 month old little one. Yes, he turned 9 months old this week. More of it and his milestones at 9 months later. I just need to forward a summary of
alli reviews to an aunt abroad.
I have posted the loot we got from our Richwell Warehouse Sale shopping spree
here and look how the little one enjoys his Daddy's gift for him.

Three days before he turned 9 months old, we first let him have his walker "ride". He was a bit cranky since it's his bedtime already but being the excited (and inconsiderate LOL) parents that we are, we let him try it for a while. His first steps? He went backwards. But when I positioned in front while he's begging to be picked up, he moved towards me. His succeeding steps days later are now more on moving forward so I bet, he's on the right track of training. We are now forced to allot an activity area in the living room for him so he could be mobile with his walker. And with him being mobile means we have to babyproof the house very carefully protecting him and the breakable furniture alike. For now, he's still gentle "driving" it but perhaps when he gets the hang of how to easily maneuver the walker, he might move real fast and carelessly bang it to each and every structure in the living room. If there's such a thing as a "walker
auto insurance", then I think we need one for it. LOL.
