At 18 Months and 1 Week - On Toilet Training Readiness.

Here's what Babycenter says about Asher on his 18th month Week 1:

One tangible sign that your child has left babyhood behind is that she's beginning to be able to hold in urine or bowel movements. Starting about now, keep a potty seat around so your child can gradually get used to the idea of using it. Don't push it, though — while some toddlers may be showing signs that they're ready to try, many others won't be ready until they're 24 months old or even older.

As I've blogged earlier, Asher is now diaper free throughout the day as he can control his bladder already. He signs whenever he feels the urge to urinate, thus, he doesn't have much soiled briefs. On the other hand, I think we're pretty far from getting 100% potty trained bowel movement wise. Although he also signs whenever he feels it coming and leads us the way to the CR, he refuses still to sit down on the toilet bowl. He prefers doing it in a standing position. But as Babycenter says, we don't have to push it. For now, we'll just watch for his cues and in no time, he'll lead himself to be 100% potty trained.
