21 Months

My dearest Asherito,

I can't believe that you are now 21 months old today. Just three months to go before you officially enter the big "Terrible Two" Stage although, you already exhibit manifestations as early as now.

1. In your well baby checkup yesterday, the doctor commented that you just weigh fine and your weight gain is just right. You're also through with your immunizations so the remaining ones will just be booster shots.

2. You love to run and run and run and run. I or your Yayie can barely catch up with you.

3. You surprised Mommy and Daddy the other day when you climbed all by yourself on our window sill.

4. You keep on insisting to Yayie that you climb the stairs all by yourself to which usually ends with an argument and a fussing Asher later on.

5. You recently learned to pronounce: "wow!", "ba-ney" (barney), "ti-ta tet" (tita tetet), "da-wa" (dalawa), "yuck", "ba-buh" (bubbles), "Moo" (cow's sound), "Awooo" (Mumu sound). You can also follow and repeat the syllables we say. Here's an example of a funny learning session we had:

Mommy: Da
Asher: Da
Mommy: De
Asher: De
Mommy: Di
Asher: Di
Mommy: Do
Asher: Aww Aww (imitating a dog's bark)

You still have a limited vocabulary and more often gets your message across through hand signing, pointing, imitating sounds and actions.

6. You now have a set of 16 teeth. Your canines have finally erupted.

7. You're addicted to flying airplanes and kites, the moon and the stars.

8. You love riding a car and sounds "brrroomm" (or something that sounds like that).

9. You're amused and can sit still watching Animal Planet. You even imitate the meerkats' head turning.

10. You can now make "sumbong" or tell mommy if you got a bump on the head or you fell/stumbled on the ground. You also point your booboo and doesn't stop until you get Mommy kiss it. You also ask for your Bioneem anti-itch ointment if you got a mosquito bite. You know where it's kept.

11. You say "ho! ho! ho!" when you hear someone says "Merry Christmas".

12. You say "wow!" in delight whenever you see bright and twinkling christmas lights as well as other things that you find amusing and wonderful.

13. You like to wear and model your new clothes.

You're really growing up so fast, my son. Always remember that Mom and Dad love you so much!
