Mommy Moments: Look at that Mess!

mommy moments

K-A-L-A-T.

This...is just the tip of the iceberg. My son, who's turning 17 months on Sunday, is such a playful and inquisitive kiddo. However, he easily gets bored with one toy that he has to bring out another toy then after a few minutes, brings out another one whatever his eye catches until all his toys and stuffs are piled up like this...yes including his shoes and sandals. Our room is usually a disaster with scattered books, boxes, toys of all sorts, and even with his clothes everywhere.

Well, this is exactly the reason why Moms are considered the ultimate cleaning machine. Tama?

And oh...here are two of his messy eating pictures at 10 months. I so love his smile here...so cute!

Jungle Safari Party Costume for Mom and Dad.

The link to my post: Asher's Jungle Safari 1st Birthday Party Supplier Ratings gets the most number of incoming hits in this blog. In fact, if you try to search the keywords "jungle safari birthday party" on google, it's there right up on the first page along with the other articles leading to the top party resource and suppliers sites. It's pretty flattering actually and I'm stoked how my ideas, feedback and ratings are helping out other Moms in preparing for their kid's party especially here in the Philippines. Every now and then, I still receive comments and inquiries about it and whenever I can, I hit them back. It's my way of paying back since most of my party ideas, I scoured and consolidated them from the internet, too.

Now I went through my blog post again and noticed that I didn't tackle much about the jungle safari party costume for the Mom. Costumes for the parents are not really necessary but it adds fun and more themed touch to the party right? For the Dad, well, there are not much options, not unless he wants to dress up as an animal mascot. The most common and easiest safari fashion for men is Steve Irwing, Kuya Kim Atienza or any animal hunter costume styles: khaki polo and shorts, hunter hat, socks and brown hunter boots or shoes.
Now for the Mom, you might want to have a special tailored safari dress similar to what I wore. I actually bought it from an Ebay seller and have it repaired to perfectly fit on me.

I used a dark brown and wider belt to emphasize the safari fashion look and a light brown or close to khaki colored platform wedge for my footwear.
The Birthday Family. Sumakit talaga legs at likod ko kinagabihan.

If only I have the guts and body, I could have worn this..to my husband's objection, of course.

I could also have this urban safari fashion style, but alas, I don't have Sophia Bush's long sexy legs to flaunt and the glam to strut it.
Want to be dolled up with this urban safari look? Have an army-green shorts (or a khaki-pleated shorts), white tank, brown blazer — sexy crisscross sandals (or platform wedges), a cascading gold necklace, and dainty clutch.

Time Flies Fast.

IMG_0785Awwww..ang laki na ng baby kowww.:: Asher at birth :: :: Asher at 16 months ::

Uploading photos to my Facebook albums is what kept me busy last weekend. Actually, it was Asher's album that I updated with his pictures through the months. I know a lot of my distant friends and relatives are so eager to see how he's grown now. Looking at his pictures is actually bittersweet for me. Of course, I'm glad that he's growing and thriving very well and yet, I'm sad that my baby is growing way too fast. I mean, I am still high savoring his baby moments that I feel time is taking away that from me so quickly. I really can't just imagine him yet walking down the aisle clad in a tuxedo shirt to get married. Well, I know my thoughts are so advanced but hey, twenty five years is not that long as we think. Now I'm talking like my parents thought of us (me and my siblings) three decades ago. See, time indeed flies soooooo fast.

Invitations Halloween.

Invitations Halloween

Halloween's just a few months away. How I wish the homeowner officers will take an initiative to hold a Trick or Treat for the kids so they can put on their costumes and go candy hunting around the village. Then I can perhaps teach my son to chant: "I'm a little jack-o-lantern short and round somebody picked me up off the ground they put me in the window with a light and BOO I'll scare you on Halloween night" so he can snag lots of goodies in the neighborhood.

I might suggest this in the forthcoming homeowners meeting. Holding for one isn't that difficult and costly anyway. I can even volunteer in ordering the Halloween Invitations online. Recently, I stumbled upon these New Styles Trends Halloween Invitations and they're all so lovely or should I say spooky enough for a Halloween festivity. Ordering from them even comes with Free Halloween Invitations for every minimum quantity order. There are even lots of sample wordings, sayings and verses that will make the Halloween Party Invitations at its nightmarish appeal.

Asher's Library

Library

I have blogged about Asher's love for books before. I'm amazed how we were able to come up with this ever growing collection of books for him. In fact, I keep on researching online for some more Amazon books that I can add to his collection. He surely have lots of toys already, mostly were gifted to him, so instead of luring him to Toy Kingdom when we're malling, we'd rather bring him to the bookstore or to the thrift book shops for book shopping. I normally buy him lift the flaps and touch and feel baby books because those are his favorites. I have always believed that it's never too early to start training a baby to have interest in books. Books are just so powerful aids in helping a child's mental development shape up. I'm just so proud that he can now read or should I say recognize the images on his books and associate them with actions or sounds (for animals). If you take a closer look, some of his books are a bit mangled on the edges. Those are just proofs how they are overused by the little one. I hope he continues to grow up and love reading books even more.

Reading his Teddy Bear Book.

Letter to Asher 072509 (First Bruise Booboo)

You surely had several booboos already in the past. Mostly bumps (due to bad falls) on the head leaving you loudly wailing in shock and pain. But last Saturday, you experienced your first ever bruise. You were running so fast on the street that you stumbled and got your knee scraped because of your sudden fall on the rough road. Well, it was nothing serious. In fact, you didn't cry at all and you simply shrugged off the dirt on your hands and the little pain you felt. You were aware of your little bruise on your knee that you just kept on staring at it. What I want you to know is that, it's just okay and alright to get hurt at times. I know I promised that I will always protect and shelter you from harm. But there are times in life, my son, that we all have to undergo pain because it is from them that we realize the lessons in life. We need to occasionally falter because that is where we'll learn how to stand up, face and deal with life bravely.

Basta don't worry my son, Mommy will always just be here to kiss those booboos away.

Xoxo,
Mom

Promising Investment.

I was looking for Asher's photo albums when I stumbled upon my sister's collection of coins. Have you ever wondered why coins of most currencies are in silver or platinum forms? Well, according to some precious metals resource sites, these two are cheaper than gold. Of course, they're still valuable as investment but they remain more cost-effective because of its wide utilization. Speaking of investment, Monex Deposit Company (MDC) is the entity to turn to and trust for your silver requirements. They offer the most attractive prices for gold, silver and other precious metals that you can add to your collection or for your trading business. They also arrange for convenient and safe storage at an independent bank or depository. Check out this promising investment.

Lovely Lauren Leela.

First, there's Asher...with Lauren Leela's coming...now, they are two. Two babies, two grand kids...in my side's family.

These two are the greatest blessings that we have now...both, adorable in their own ways.

Lauren's more than a month old already and from the webcam conference, through which we normally see and interact with my Qatar-based sister's family, I can see how she's growing so fast. She's now more plump, more active and more voracious than ever. Every time I chat with my sister, Lauren never cease to open her mouth and demand for a feeding time. In no time, I just know that my sister will complain how her muscles ache because of her weight. She's generally okay except for the stubborn baby acne that she has. My sister's worrying over it but I assured her that it will eventually go away. No acne treatments necessary. Just of course be wary of the possible allergens that might be causing it. My sister also told us that Lauren's got a passport already. Yehey to that. She can now go home for vacation here in the Philippines but unfortunately, the parents are holding off her first flight until next year. Geez, I can't wait for that.

"Daddy..Daddy..Daddy.."

I'm still in denial (and I am soooooo envious) that Asher can now call his "Daddy" loud and clear. Ask him to say "daddy" and without hesitation, he would right away blurt it out. Whenever his dad arrives or when he just randomly sees him, he says "Daddy" discernibly and in jubilation. While on the other hand, it takes great patience of nagging just so he say "Momom" for Mommy. Although I know that babies tend to first learn and babble "dada", I just find it weird (hmmm...okay, sour graping here) that he learned to utter "daddy" first than "mommy" when in fact, I am the one who's with him 24/7. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder...with that okay, I give in. Sige na nga. At least, mas maka-mommy pa rin naman siya. :D

Things That Pregnant Women Worry About.

I've just read the Ten Things Pregnant Women Worry About and I can so relate. The pregnancy news is truly one amazing blessing. But after the pregnancy test kit and doctor's confirmations, the worry wart gene kicks in and the eternal motherhood fussing officially begins.

Here are some of the things that pregnant women worry about:
1. Eating and Drinking
:: Paranoia sets in and before taking any bite, a mom often thinks if it's just okay for the baby or not.

2. Labor
:: Labor scenes in movies definitely give first time moms the scare of their lives.

3. Hospital Bills
:: Giving birth at hospitals and lying ins hole the wallet big. So resorting early on to low cost health insurance that has pregnancy package benefits is one smart move.

4. Returning to work

5. Every ache and pain
:: Any pain felt can warrant a fast phone call to the doctor.

6. Baby blues and post partum depression

7. A healthy baby
:: Every moms wish for a perfectly healthy and normal baby.

8. Milk production
:: Moms worry if they'd have enough milk supply to feed their babies.

Letter to Asher 072009 (Of Pain and Healing)

To my little darling,

I know you completely understand why it's only now that I'm continuing this letter series. I'm sure you've witnessed and felt Mommy's misery the entire week last week. Believe me, I tried to stay positive and really made an effort to shrug off the pain. But as they say, you can't heal a huge wound overnight. But despite of this, I'd like to thank you for helping me heal. You can not say your piece yet to give me a sound advice but just the mere sight of a happy and innocent you is already a huge comfort in itself. Thank you for that my dear. It is because of you (and Daddy) that I'm striving hard to think positively because I don't want you to feel the pain. Anyway, I'm back...stronger.

Xoxo,
Mommy

Time Out Me Time.

If you are meeting up with your fellow Moms to have your much coveted "time out me time" but wants to veer away from the usual coffee talks, then you might want to try the tactical game of Airsoft. It's one very engaging, fun activity that friends can enjoy. In addition, it's a physical game so instead of resorting to slimming and diet pills, airsoft can actually be an exercise. Read further on how the airsoft game can be further enjoyed.

Airsoft Firearms for Your Airsoft Games

Firearms AEG Air SoftWhen you have an airsoft firearms, one of the best ways to get out there and enjoy it is through battling it out with your friends on one of the many courses around the country. This type of Airsoft shooting can really put your skills to the test in a way that first person shooters on the computer or video game console just can't match. With your adrenaline sending your body into high alert, every movement is going to be carefully chosen so you can preserve yourself and prevent your body from becoming the next target. If you're fairly new to the event, there are plenty of ways to give yourself an advantage over your competitors.

With Air Soft Firearms, Use Obstacles Well

Although one choice is to just charge out with your Airsoft firearms blazing towards all of your competitors, you're going to last longer in the game and bring down more of your competitors if you make wise use of obstacles, stay out of the line of fire, and keep your shooting more strategic. Most of the courses will have plenty of these obstacles placed around. Before you ever pick up that first Airsoft firearms, you should scout out the course and put together a mental map of where each one is placed so you can figure out the best way to make your way safely around the area without getting shot.

You can also use these obstacles as convenient places to reload your UHC gun. Remember doing this reloading can be tricky and time-consuming so you don't want to be vulnerable for that much time. This is the perfect time to sneak up on someone and take them out of the match. Now that doesn't mean you should stay back there until the game is almost over though. Most of the other players won't be very thrilled if you emerge at the end of the battle unscathed after hiding during the entire match.

Stay Low Airsoft Guns Firearms

When you're moving around the field, you don't want to make yourself an obvious target. Even if you can move fast, you can't out move one of these fast-flying pellets. That means as you're dashing across the course in plain site of all the other participants. You might as well put a target on your back.

The smart way is for you to stay as close to the ground as possible. In real life military situations, individuals sometimes just crawl along the ground on their bellies to ensure that they are as invisible to their enemies as possible. A similar strategy is quite likely to work for you in these scenarios as well. Make sure you do not get up and expose your position until you are safely in a protected spot.

Shoot Airsoft Guns Wisely

When you do shoot your Airsoft firearms, that shot is going to immediately tell your fellow players where you are located. That can cost you some great shots. Instead, deliberately throw them off by shooting badly then while they are looking for you in the wrong place, you'll have free aim at them.

Mommy Moments - Playing Time

Playing time is essential in a child's development. Just like any kids, my Asher absolutely loves playing with his toys, with us or even by himself. He are some of his playing time photos:

Are Toy Guns Really Bad For Kids?

Many parents do not advocate having guns as toys for their kids for the reason that they promote "fighting" and violence. But oddly, many tolerate their kids watch superheroes and villains shows that portray "fighting", too. So the question here is, are toy guns really bad for them? Do they really promote "fighting"?

I've read an article on the web about this and I was quite convinced that it's a matter of perspective. Mostly when kids play toy guns, they pretend roles of good guys catching the bad guys. Most likely, it's a game of police officers and military protecting the community against the bandits. One good way to take on this issue is to explain to the kids that the desire to protect others is a wonderful thing. These police officers and military men put their lives at risk protecting the community making them heroes. It is in this perspective we can say that it is okay for a little boy to play these roles wherein he uses his toy guns like Airsoft Guns and imaginatively play, but he needs to understand that fighting with others is not okay.

Here are some more articles in line with this topic.

An Airsoft Gun, Airsoft Rifles and Airsoft Pistols for Your Hobby

Airsoft GunWith the holidays around the corner and birthdays coming up every year, many young boys and even some girls are likely going to have Airsoft Gun on their wish list. However, every year many parents refuse to even consider their child's wish to have a Airsoft Rifle or similar items under the tree or wrapped up on the gift table. The question is why are some parents so against these weapons and how can their negative perceptions be changed.

Are there Air Soft Sun Mess Worries?

Besides the concerns about possible injuries, many parents also worry about the mess which can be a result of the Airsoft shotguns, especially when they are used in the home or backyard. BBs can cover the floor and the ground. They can be a risk for injuries and can be dangerous to pets or other wildlife in the area, too. A good way to prevent this possibility is to invest in pop-up targets. These targets collect the spend ammunition so the shooter can reuse them in the weapon and so they are not strewn all over the place. Plus, these targets are a great way to reduce the need for purchasing extra ammo for the Airsoft gun.

What About Other Airsoft Guns Worries?

Finally, some parents are genuinely worried that Airsoft gun could inspire their children to become interested in trying out real and more dangerous guns. This type of experimenting could do more than cause a bruise like a BB might; it could result in a child's death or another person's serious injury. However, the best way to prevent this type of experimentation is by quelling the child's curiosity through the use of safer alternatives, like the airsoft firearms, and by training your child about proper weapon handling. Even though there is a big difference between these fun firearms and real guns, the safety measures you instill in your child won't be different.

Is there an Airsoftguns Danger Factor

One of the most commonly cited reasons why parents refuse to buy their children an Airsoft gun is the potential danger. Parents point out that injuries can occur from the high-powered, fast-moving pellets or bbs. The child can be injured or someone nearby can be injured. No parents want to pay unnecessary medical bills but is this a good reason not to allow your child to have one of these items?

To prevent these risks, you can begin early on training your child in proper safety procedures when using Airsoftguns. For example, make sure he or she knows that goggles or other facial protection must be worn at all times. Anything less is simply not going to be acceptable. You should also insist that any spectators wear facial protection as well or have them stand behind the shooter that is a safer place to be.

Along with the first airsoft pistols, children should be taught about these safety measures and others. For example, they need to know horsing around with the firearm is not going to be tolerated. In fact, you should have a zero tolerance policy on any behavior that could be deemed unsafe. If you also have one of these guns or even a real gun, modeling safe behavior is also a possible way to drive these points home.

Mommy Moments - Pouting Face

mommy moments

Generally, Asher's one happy baby, thus, most of his pictures are of him candidly smiling or in giddy spirit. I've spent almost an hour now browsing my flickr gallery for pictures that will be apt for this week's theme. Unfortunately, I don't have one of his pouting moments. There are times that he has this "salubong kilay" angry look whenever we refuse to give what he wants but sayang, we haven't captured it yet. Anyway, here are some his crying spells and antsy pics...somewhat close to the pouting face prompt.

Future Eyeglass Wearer?

In their recent mandatory employee annual checkup, hubby was further instructed to have his eyes checked by an eye doctor because of seemingly high eye grades. He used to wear eyeglasses when we were in High School but he discontinued after some time because of discomfort. I hope he will oblige and I hope our son won't inherit his eye problems. I know of a friend's daughter who, as young as 5 years old, needs to wear eyeglasses. It's great that she loves wearing it perhaps because of the style. It's the same design as the one I saw from Zenni Optical on TV!!!

Zenni Optical is the popular brand for having the most affordable $ 8 Rx eyeglasses. And now as a treat for the children, they have their Back To School Season Promo on children's frames. That's another High Five to Zenni Optical, hope they continue to offer cool promos and good deals in the future.

Letter to Asher 071009 (Ampalaya and Talong)

Asher my dearest,

For the first time you rejected today your lugaw fix for lunch. Instead, you sat down beside Mommy and had me feed you with what I have on my plate. Perhaps, you're graduating yourself from lugaw and is now ready for rice? Anyway, whichever you prefer as long as you maintain your voracious appetite right now, it's just okay. I can't wait to tell your Daddy that you loved the ampalaya and tortang talong we had for lunch. Talo mo pa siya because he doesn't eat ampalaya. LOL. Way to go my vegan kid!

PS: Mommy has been swamped with work since the other day. Let's be thankful as it means more moolah for us.

Xoxo,
Mommy

Drive Safely.

This goes to all drivers especially fathers and mothers out there.

More and more road accidents are being featured on the news everyday: Car crashes, hit and run instances, engines catching fire (my friend was a recent victim of this), malfunctioning brakes, motorcycle mishaps etc. All can cause tremendous physical injuries and even deaths. Just imagine how frightening it is to the drivers, the passengers and their families back home. Every driver must always remember the safety driving guidelines. It is not only limited to wearing seatbelts and going the speed limit, precautionary updates of some car parts must also be done such as upgrading to hid lights. These lights are not just the ordinary head lights as it enables the driver to see the road ahead with an unrivaled amount of clarity.

So the next time you hit the road, drive safely. Remember you have a family back home eagerly waiting for your return.

Motherhood Stress and Airsoft Guns

As Anne Morrow Lindbergh puts it....
Mothers and housewives are the only workers who do not have regular time off. They are the great vacationless class.

This is very true and I can relate because being a Mom, or more so, a Work-at-home Mom is one of the toughest jobs. In fact, the phrase "working mom" is redundant, no wonder we are coined as Super Moms. The stress that motherhood puts up can be demotivating and draining. We are super moms but we are humans too. We aren't robots who don't feel tired and exhausted. Once in a while, we need our "me" time to de-stress and release our steam.

Airsoft Sniper GunMost moms engage in various activities like shopping, TV or movie watching, join girl or mommy talks, do yoga and meditation and for some, play competitive sports. I know of one Mom who joins her hubby in playing airsoft. She says that target shooting using her Airsoft Sniper Gun focuses and enhances her mind, thereby making her forget the things causing her stress.

Interested to know more about Airsoft? Here are a few notes from Sarah Porter...

Airsoft Gun Rifle, Airsoft Guns and Airsoft Rifles

The responsible use of an airsoft gun rifle doesn't have to be boring. In fact, there are plenty of ways for you to enjoy your purchase without getting into trouble, disturbing the neighbors, or paying for damage to someone else's property. Some of the ideas below may not be conventional but they are effective and can give you a good excuse to bring out your airsoft guns. Just remember that the key word is always responsible.

Limiting the Insect Population Using Airsoft Rifles

You probably already know that insects can be a huge problem during the warmer months. They can build nests in the most disruptive places and cause all sorts of problems, including serious stings and even deadly allergic reactions. You could try to eliminate the problem by spraying tons of insect repellant at the nest and into the atmosphere but those chemicals aren't good for anyone to breathe in. A better method is bring along your airsoft rifle and shoot a hole in the nest. Be sure to step back because the insects are going to be angry. Wait until they mellow then spray the repellant directly into the nest. An airsoft rifle gun works good for this task because you can stand further back.

Getting Stress Free Gun Rifle Airsoft

Who doesn't have a lot of stress in their life? Almost all of us have plenty of things to worry about and deal with every day. In fact, stress is one of the leading causes of illness in the United States because it reduces our immune response and can increase our risk of heart disease. Having an effective way to eliminate that stress can be very important. Some people have found ways, such as yoga or meditation, that work. Other people use drinking, gambling, and other vices to help them forget about their stress.

There is a better alternative. You could simply grab your airsoft rifle gun and head out to the backyard. Set up some aluminum cans and start shooting a few rounds. By focusing your mind on the target practice, you'll quickly forget whatever was causing you so much stress and you'll have a good time. Plus, you can always bring along your kids or your friends if you want to enjoy the activity and the stress relief with others. After all, you're probably not the only one who needs to release some steam.

Competing with Electric Airsoft Gun

If you've been stressed enough, you might want to take your electric airsoft guns skills into competition. At a competition, you'll match your shooting skills against others who also enjoy using these weapons. You don't necessarily need to be the best shooter in order to have a good time either. And if you're not interested in entering the competition yourself why not consider going and watching the other contestants. You might learn a few tricks to improve your own skills, plus many of the competitions feature vendors selling related items that might be of interest to you as well. Competitions can be very enjoyable with or without your trusty airsoft guns.

Letter To Asher 070709 (Special Dessert)

Dearest Asher,

You just don't know how happy I am to see you loving the chilled Graham dessert I made. I don't know how it is called but it's a layer of Graham crackers and a mixture of all purpose cream and condensed milk with crushed pineapple tidbits in between layers and topped with a cherry. I scraped off the cream and milk layer for you because I don't want to you get addicted with sweets that much as such an early age. You love the soft graham and you can't even wait for the next slice to touch your mouth. Mommy made a huge one but it seems everyone can't get enough of it that it was consumed fast. Don't worry honey, I'll make another one for you soon.

Xoxo,
Mommy

Godmom To Be.

On the 25th, we will be attending the christening of Asher's Godmother's daughter. Believe it or not, she is my first ever goddaughter. Well, I already have few but all are Paul's godchildren who became mine as well when we got married. So technically, this will be my first time to be a "direct" godparent. Call me excited, yes because I really am. I have already bought her christening present last weekend. I didn't have a hard time looking for one because I have a baby myself so I'm quite familiar with what stuffs Moms would appreciate to have for their babies. Then there's Babynest.com, (Theknot.com's sibling site) an ultimate resource and shop for personalized baby gifts from newborn to toddler years. It also has an array of adorable and creative gifts for the expectant parents that would be perfect as baby shower gifts. From apparels, to keepsakes, to blankets and to diaper bags, everything tot-related is here. If I have seen this sooner, I would have placed my order for a personalized blanket such as this Disco Dot Initial Blanket.

Four Million Floats Recalled.

Summer may be over in our country and swimming months may be far still but you might want to pull out your kids' floats from the closet and check if they are one of these four million flotation devices that have been recalled. These were manufactured by Aqua-Leisure, a Chinese enterprise. Many of the popular water items made by this company are sold for between $8 - $15 at national retailers like Toys R Us, Kmart, Target and Walgreens. Letter to Asher 070609 (On Working From Home).

My Asherito...

Resigning from my work at Convergys is one of the best decisions I ever made. Weighing the pros and cons then wasn't that difficult actually because I was only blinded by my extreme desire to be with you and personally take care of you everyday. Life isn't getting easier economically that's why I really am thankful for the opportunity that I can work from home. I work (online) and yet anytime that you need me especially when you yearn for mommy's milk, you just go to my work station, tug my shirt and you're one happy satisfied baby. I enjoy bathing, preparing your food and do all other Mommy duties. When work's piling up or if I'm already brain fried, I get an instant stress-reliever in your hugs, sweet kisses and random "pangungulit". We're also lucky because Daddy has the greatest support with this setup. He wants nothing but the best for you. I don't know yet for how long will we be in this setup. Life is uncertain. But all I know is that I am not psyched yet to leave you and be a corporate slave again.

Xoxo,
Mommy

Jewelry For Children.

Lucky me because I have a son who need not wear jewelries to spice up his get up. Jewelries are more likely for girls. So the question comes in, when should you let your child start wearing jewelries. For very young children, it's actually up to the parents but do remember though that for very young kids two or younger, any jewelry can be unsafe (choking and strangling hazards). This goes especially to the babies who have their ears pierced in their first year or early months. Utmost care and guidance should be done under these circumstances. If you see that your three or four year old is mature and responsible enough to wear jewelries, then you may let her choose the style she wants. If you teach her about good taste from early on, it will help her learn to make appropriate choices all by herself. But be sure though to buy your kids just the inexpensive ones because kids are still kids.

Investing in jewelries for you daughter's use let's say in their teenage or adult years, it's wise if you do it now. A discount jewelry either a ring, a bracelet or a necklace would make a nice 18th birthday gift. Check out the designs provided by Holsted Jewelers. Theirs are one of the finest and most elegant pieces of jewelries I've seen especially those that have birthstones.

My dearest son,

We're currently here at Lolo's and Lola's house in Frisco and they are so happy to see you again. As always, they were delighted conversing with you even though they only hear your babbles as your response. You showed them what you recently learned that is, to jump...although you can't really jump yet as you just lift both of your heels and your toes are left on the ground. Nevertheless, you know the concept of jumping, right? And I'm happy that you can associate the word to that certain action. In no time, your body will learn to balance and by then, you can jump as high as you can. That's what I want you to learn, my child. Jump high..explore..learn..I'll just be right here ready to catch you.

Of Delivery and Postpartum Pressures and Stress.

First Photo with Mommy.

No doubt, giving birth is extremely exhausting physically and the stress continues until the postpartum recovery phase. I remember twenty four hours after I gave birth to Asher, I was so pressured to pee and remove my bowel. If unable to do so, I won't be discharged on the next day and worse, they'll put on catheter on me to empty my bladder. A urinary catheter is used in labor and delivery and is usually given to Moms who receive medications like epidural anesthesia or have a cesarean section. I delivered via NSD and had epidural but before they could put on a catheter on me, I conditioned my body to pee on my own and endured the pain. I'm aware how catheters can be painful when inserted. Even though I saw from Allegro Medical, the leading online retailer of life enhancing products in the United States, that there are different types of catheters and perhaps there are those that don't pain much when inserted, I mustered all my strength to empty my bladder the natural way. I was so relieved that I managed to pass this phase and as my doctor promised, I was discharged the next day.

Speaking of Allegro Medical, it's comforting to know that anyone can readily and easily order home health care supplies and other consumer retail products in just one click. Letter to Asher 070309.

Hi Asher,

See, so far I'm keeping up with my promise. That I'll be writing you letters everyday in this blog. I could have written this earlier and not now that I'm rushing because your Daddy will be home any minute. Our internet connection conked out around lunch time so Mommy's online tasks halted, too. Today's Friday and you know what that means. All our bags are packed, except for Daddy, we're ready to drive to Frisco and spend the weekend with your Lolo and Lola.

What I want to write about you today is that I'm so proud that you're appetite is grooving back. You had a week long of "all vegetable" daily menu as we try to make bawi for your lost appetite when you got sick last week. For today, you had lugaw with malunggay plus the mashed squash from our dinengdeng dish. Then tonight, you were so eager to use your spoon and feed all by yourself. However, I have to assist you because your food kept on spilling from the spoon as you open your mouth. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it. Just continue to practice and I'll just be here to guide you.

9:24 PM...Daddy's here, my dear. But we decided that we'll stay here for the night and drive to Frisco tomorrow morning instead.

By the way, I'm forgiving your uber likot hands for now and your stubborn mouth. Buti na lang, Yayay was quick enough to hold your hand, otherwise you might have finished the whole chocolate mallows including the wrapper. Tsk tsk tsk.

Mommy Moments: Encounter with Pets or Animals

mommy moments

Whenever we are at my in laws' place, he loves playing with their pets Jumong, a dog and Margie, a cat. Unfortunately, I don't have pics of him with them yet..thanks to Mommy Moments for reminding me to take one. At any rate, here are a few pictures of Asher's close encounters with animals. These were taken at Avilon Zoo in Rodriguez, Rizal last year. Asher was just 8 months old here.

Si LoboIMG_2030

The close encounter with Lobo. Remember ABS-CBN's fantaserye "Lobo" last year? Yes, Asher got to pose with Angel Locsin's Lobo form. Look how Asher was closely scrutinizing Lobo on the first picture. I was holding tight his hands because he might just grab the furry dog and get it unruly. That would be scary.

With Tito Kevin, Mommy, Daddy and Trixie.

And this is a photo with the zoo's friendly monkey, Trixie. Again, I had his hands guarded.. I'm so paranoid I know but I was just being cautious even though these animals are trained.
