Asher's "Rara", "Roro" and a Lot More.

As cued by The Smart Mom's Guide to the Toddler Years book, Asher's vocabulary has indeed expanded fast this month (23rd month).

*The 23rd month begins when your child is 22 months old and ends when he is twenty-three months old*

Mr. Pogi daw

He's now able to pronounce and associate names to a LOT of things and persons. Albeit, he can't enunciate some clearly, it's perfectly comprehensible still. After all, all kids undergo this "bulol" stage and sooner or later, they'll be able to pronounce even the long and most complicated ones like glucomannan. Here are some of his recently learned words:

"Rara" (Lola) - spoken with a bit soft "r" blended with "l" so it's seemingly "lra-lra".

"Roro" (Lolo)

"Big"

"Opo"

"Two" - We've started training him to say 2 when asked how old is he.

"Baby"

"Egg"

"Tata" for Tita

"Uwa" for Kuya

"Chon-chon" for lotion

He can also combine a couple of words like:

"Mama, weewee" or "Mama, poopoo" - When he feels doing Number 1 or Number 2.

"Mama, dede"

"Yayie, Baba" - Commanding his nanny to get out of the room and go downstairs so he can make "dede" na.

Apart from he's started to be so noisy, his being a "bundle of energy" has gone a notch higher. Kalikot!

"Losing Weight"

My Google Reader has never been this busy and flooded with so much reader feeds. I guess, all of my blogger friends are that busy lately and are so into updating their online nooks, huh? But there's one thing I noticed. A number of them tackled about losing weight and perusing closely alli reviews. Well, as expected and as to be blamed, the additional pounds they gained were brought about by the Holidays' endless feasts left and right. So to everyone who's in this journey, wishing you all the luck.

And oh one more thing, I'm sure they were just overlooked (or typo errors). This is in connection with the usage of the term "losing weight".

It's not "loosing". :peace:

Intimate Dance

"Marriage is not a ritual or an end. It is a long, intricate, intimate dance together and nothing matters more than your own sense of balance and your choice of partner."
~Amy Bloom

Hubby and I can somehow relate because we met when we were just 13 years young (first day of school - freshman year). So basically we've known each other for almost two decades now. Too bad, he didn't ask me to dance during the Prom..that would have been a sweet memory to cherish. Hehe!

The message is very inspiring to all married couples out there. Isn't it nice to know and be assured that you have somebody to dance with all throughout your life even at your most senile and weak age? The time when you are most vulnerable to severe joint pains and other illnesses, the time when your sexy body and youthful looks have retired and the time you're already white-haired? You're not at all worried because you know that you will never be alone in your life.

Mommy Moment: Newborn Days

mommy moments

It's been a while since I last joined Mommy Moments and I have to admit that I missed doing this every Friday. For this week's theme, it'll be about Newborn Days.

IMG_0785ed IMG_0867ed

These are just two of his newborn days pictures. March 2, 2008 will remain the most memorable day of my life. It was the day when my son gave me an opportunity to experience the most challenging yet fulfilling job in the whole world. It was the day when he let me become a Mother. It wasn't an easy pregnancy and delivery. Had bleeding twice, hospital pre-natal confinement once and 19 hours of labor. That's why I beamed with so much pride, love, joy and gratitude on our first meeting. He's my most precious. It was also the day when I experienced "love at first sight".

Mother and Son.

It's been a while since I last shared a Mother-Son photo so this is what I have for you this afternoon:

DSC_4217

That's our Christmas Day shot. Love Asher's smile here..so genuine and so adorable. And I love also how I look here because I don't appear that skinny. Must be the blouse I was wearing that made my arms appear slightly bigger. How I wish I gain back my "just the average" body built of 100ish pounds. Not like this as if I have an overdosage of herbal diet supplement at just 90 lbs. You see, while others strive to shed off fats and flabs, I'm yearning the contrary. Looking so scrawny and bony doesn't equally look good.

Got Dental Questions for Your Babies and Toddlers?

Moms and Kids Magazine is in search for five dental questions from Mommies who may have concerns about their kids' dental care. These will be featured in their March anniversary issue. You may submit your queries, questions or concerns to mandk@inbox.com and they will be answered by a pediatric dentist, Dra. Chavez. From the questions sent in, five lucky moms whose entries will be published get to win special children's toothpaste gift packs. Entries may be sent up to the last week of January only. I wonder if they have an in mag doctor who can answer questions about diet pill side effects. Hmm, I'm not the one asking. Just wondering for a friend who swears to lose weight this year by trying some diet pills.

Way Advanced.

I'm really impressed how things in general are made a lot easier now. For instance, we can avail several services on the web because payment methods have expanded to so many ways: credit cards, paypal, bank deposits and now even by phone check where one can issue a check via phone. The last sounds weird noh? But there really is such a technology now. I wonder by the time Asher grows up and work, perhaps their salaries will already land right on their palms in a blink of an eye without having to go through a bank account. As to what technology could that be, I don't know...but people nowadays think almost so sci-fi now.

I Wonder..

Day by day, my son never cease to amaze me. He truly has grown and gone are the days when his communication ways are just limited to crying. He still cannot verbally express what he wants, but through intelligible syllables, actions, and signals, he's by far better now. His memory is impressive, too. He has mastered the song sequence of his Barney DVD like for instance, he knows what actions are to be done on the next song so he either positions himself, stands up or even prompts the action routine ahead of the show. Truly remarkable. These are just a few of his milestone markers and I'm ready to witness for more. Sooner or later, he'd be schooling, then start to woo girls and get married. I can't help but wonder if he'll consider Destination Weddings someday. If yes, then I'd suggest he goes all out for an all-Cancun marvelous wedding experience at Riviera Maya. It's the most romantic haven for couples and newlyweds. But wait, it's too early to yak about my son's wedding. I surely like him to grow up but not so fast, please.

22 Months.

Dear Cher-cher...

Do notice how differently I am addressing to you this letter now. Ever since you can pronounce your name in that manner and can intelligently answer when asked "what's your name?", dad and I fondly called you that way. You've passed the 22nd month mark and as you're in your 23rd month already, here are the remarkable progress you've shown and a few random moments about you over the month:

1. As of your last checkup, you tipped the scales at 12.5 kilos. A lot lighter than your cousin Kylie but Mom and Dad don't fret because you're still within the average percentile. Your body appears lanky but your round face and bulging cheeks prove otherwise.

2. Unfortunately, you got sickly towards the later months of the year. You got on and off colds and cough and later on, just a few days before Christmas, you were hospitalized. The thing we dreaded the most was confirmed. Your doctor said you have asthma and worse, it lead to pneumonia so we didn't have a choice but have you confined. Mom is still scouting for a Pedia Pulmonologist for confirmation of the diagnosis, and if ever, to monitor and guide your health closely and more intensively.

3. On a brighter note, you're more talkative now as ever. Your vocabulary isn't that too wide yet but you certainly can enunciate more words and names now including your name which you pronounce as "cher-cher". Other words are wowo (lolo), lala or sometimes wawa (lola), bu (blue), bak (black), wow (for christmas lanterns and anything that delights you). Then you still hand signals or acts tasks like munching for eating, covering your ears and say "mmmm bongggg" for firecrackers, acting choked (for Jollibee), you say the corresponding animal sounds when you pertain to or see a particular animal. You say "ho, ho, ho" when you hear someone greets you "Merry Christmas!"

4. Your memory amazes me. Whenever you see or hear a particular commercial's jingle, you act what product is that. Like for the Rexona commercial, you act as if you're rolling on one to your armpit. For the Tide commercial, you act as if you're the washing the laundry. For Manny Pacquiao's commercials, you close and bang your fists as if you're posing to box.

5. You say "bu" when asked what's the color of the sky. You say "bak" when asked what's the color of your hair.

6. You can also distinguish and differentiate a good from a bad smell. You sniff and grimace whenever you smell your own fart, see the garbage or when you joke around when asked "what's the smell of mommy". You smile on the other hand after sniffing a fragrant thing.

7. You've mastered your sense of direction now. You can perfectly steer your plasma car, bike and toy car.

8. You're a good imitator, actor and entertainer, too. You can pretend reading (mumbling words while holding a piece of paper or your book). You're one talented dancer. You were even part of the Christmas program here in the school together with your cousin Kylie. You both danced together with the preschoolers Nobody (complete with clap-clap-point-clap-clap step) and the song Katawan (complete with marching and "nahihilo" steps). When you see that Mom's laptop is open and Mom's not around, you lie on your stomach on the bed the way mom does and seemingly type or move the mouse. One time, I even caught you staring at the page of goodsamfinancecenter.com. Perhaps, you're attracted to the smiling Good Sam logo.

9. Grapes and oranges have suddenly become your favorites.

10. I have seen how you've enjoyed the holidays. Your eyes really go big in delight as you unwrap your gifts on Christmas day and as you see bright and colorful fireworks in the sky on New Year's eve.

11. Your most favorite Christmas presents are the Aquadoodle from Mom, the Plasma Car from Dad, the barking stuffed dog from Jervy and Kuya Matthew. You also appreciated the Barney stickers Santa left inside your stockings on the eve of Christmas. Your two cabinets are now filled with Barney and Sponge Bob stickers. You kiss each one of them once in a while.

12. You love trying on and modeling your new clothes. You even insist to wear a pair of your shoes to complete the getup.

13. You love traveling and riding the car. You say "di" when asked who's driving.

14. I just love it when Barney's song "I Love You, You Love Me" is played. Because you insist that we imitate them...we hug, we kiss and we hold hands as cued while swaying to the beat.

15. We find it funny how you snap at us when you get mad with matching "salubong kilay" look and a very angry voice. You initially call Jollibee "pssst!" with matching come here sign. You point to where you are seated and instruct Jollibee to make "dede" on me too. I actually don't know where you got that because nobody taught you.

16. You can also eat by yourself now with lesser assistance from us.

Enjoying his breakfast

Just two more months to go baby, and you're turning two. I can't wait to witness more crazy antics and progress of you but please, don't grow up so fast my baby.

Xoxo,
Mommy

One and a Half Hour.

Watch out for my posts about how we celebrated our holiday in my main blog as well as other personal posts. I'll also be doing a mini-review of the hotel we stayed at on New Year's eve. It's incomparable to any of those five star las vegas hotel but there are things about it that I like to rave about.

Big Feat

I just hope that my internet bandwidth uploads a little bit faster. While waiting, I'm reading a friend's recent blog entry about her masteral study plans. She's scheduled to take some GMAT prep courses soon and after that, she's all set to finally pursue her MBA plan. This got me a little envious because taking up graduate studies has been one of my long term dreams. Given my current setup and priorities, it's just impossible that this dream will be realized. So good for her, I wish her all the luck.

Si "Aw-aw"

Image0501.jpg

Dearest Asherito,

How I wish I was able to capture in video your delight and how your eyes sparkled the moment you met "Aw-aw". He was actually a Christmas gift from Tita Ivy's sons Kuya Matthew and Jervy. You surely did appreciate all other toys and clothes you received but Aw-aw captivated your heart most dearly on the eve of Christmas. You were so enamored and mesmerized watching him bark, and even seemingly run after him as he moved. In fact, the very proof of you "overusing" him instantly is that you got his back leg "injured" just about a few minutes after you unwrapped him. More minutes later, its spring and the non insulated terminals in the section where batteries are put have gone disarrayed. You were so impatient while Daddy tried to fix him and put everything back in order again.

It's really such a great sight seeing you so delighted every time you turn him on...and if you could only hear your own voice..your "wow!" was truly divine. All the more now that I believe Christmas is really for the little children.

It may sound so corny or too simple but I don't mind calling your stuffed dog "Aw-aw". After all, it was you who named him that way...since of course, you know that a dog barks the "aw-aw" way. Too bad, we can't let you play with him anymore. Aside from the fact that the batteries and spring's worn out, stuffed toys are now off limits to you because it may trigger your asthma.

Grown Up Fashion

It's not that I'm rushing my son's growth but I really love to dress him up into this "manly" fashion.
DSC_3902

This photo was taken at his Ninang PJ's wedding last November 28 at Fernwood Gardens. So that's explain why he's so dressed up. He could have worn one of his tuxedos but I decided to clad him in a more comfortable polo instead. Besides, he's not one of the bearers anyway.

Uploading Soon.

Get ready as holiday pictures are about to storm my Flickr account. Watch out for the photos of my darling son opening his Christmas presents, our Noche Buena, the Media Noche and a lot more. I also have some pre-holiday pictures that I haven't uploaded still: photos of my newest "Harry" HP G60 laptop (a pre-Cyber Monday loot at Walmart), the two December weddings and a christening we attended, and the hospital pictures of Asher during his confinement. I really have a lot so bear with my photo flooding in my Flickr in a while.
