Starting a Coin Collection

Coin collecting is a fun, easy and safe hobby that kids can get involved with.  For a starter and for young ages, it is a great hobby but in the long run and in the distant future, these coins can actually become an investment.  Precious metals such as gold coins do not devalue at any time and in fact, appreciates regardless of the world economy status.  Should you opt your kids to start this hobby, the following tips may be helpful:

1. You don't have to buy gold eagle coins right away to start a collection. You can actually begin with just the change in your pocket.

2. Request old change from relatives, friends and the elders, and then, ask if you can have it or offer to buy it, depending on what feels appropriate.

3. Check local banks or the Central Bank. Many will sell you rolls or bags of coins at face value.

4. Expand your collection by purchasing coins at coin expos, local coin dealers or online coin dealers such as US Gold Bureau.

Captain Barbell!

The little one has now become extremely explorative.  He plays by himself and often, he even thinks and devises his own game.

One good example is this.  After getting tired shooting balls into his mini-basketball, he excitedly picked up the basketball stand and lifted weights.  On cue, he shouts “Captain Barbell” and seemingly exhibits tremendous strength.

His Royal Highness.

I’ve shared last week a photo of the little one in his “Don Asher-oh-so-relaxed” look while watching his favorite movie Up.  Earlier today, I was able to capture again yet another “Don Asher” look but this time, he looks even more settled back as he was cozily reclined like a King.  That’s our Majesty..His Royal Highness.

Popular Blog Hits

This blog does not have a good Page Rank.  In fact, it was forever nailed to PR0 ever since for unknown reasons.  Actually, I’m also in deep wonder how come it does not gain even just PR1 considering that I’m getting generous hits from Google leading to the following top posts:

1. Asher's Jungle Safari First Birthday Party Suppliers Ratings - obviously, visitors are Moms who are planning for their kid's birthday party with a safari theme

2. Jungle Safari Party Costume for Mom and Dad - a blog post about adult costumes with Safari theme for Mom and Dad

I'd like to thank those who visited my blog and left comments on the said posts. I hope, I was somehow able to help with your planning needs.

A Much Needed Rest

Thank God I’m almost over with my mountain high work load for this weekend. Just a couple more to go then I can say that I’m done. It’s Monday tomorrow, a brand new work week for most but for me, I’ll take it just easy and slow. I need to rest and I deserve a good break. Too bad, the husband still decided to report for work in the office when initially he will not because of the President’s State of the Nation Address happening in Batasan Complex, just a stone’s throw away from our home and a route that he will pass by. It could have been an extended weekend for us. Anyway, I’ll just make up for the lost weekend quality time with my Asher. I’ll play with him his favorite “pretend play” in which he’d act or imitate what grownups in the house do. He uses his Chicco car keyboard and pretends that it’s his Asus laptop. He imitates me and act as if he’s typing which is what he usually sees me doing. Sometimes it’s just really funny because he also imitates how my forehead creases when I’m so concentrated on the laptop monitor. Good times. That’s what we’ll be up to more tomorrow.

TransUnion Lawsuits

From 1987 to 2000, TransUnion, illegally sold confidential credit information of those who applied during these years to marketing companies as leads.  This is a clear violation of the Federal Credit Reporting Act of the United States so in defense to those who were victimized, a pre-established $75 million fund has been set aside as monetary damages who filed for a TransUnion Lawsuit.  However, many have not filed claims perhaps because there were totally unaware of the violation committed by TransUnion or they’re clueless that they are entitled to file for claims.  The O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath firm comprises of skilled attorneys who can expertly handle even the most complex claims and cases.  A free consultation can be requested from the said firm.

Little Rockstar Asher

Image0805 Isn’t he cute with the way he holds the guitar?  He looks like a pro strumming the guitar with a pick and even his left hand certainly knows where it should be placed.  Too bad, we didn’t bring our video cam that time.  It would have been nice to capture everything in motion.  He was actually singing The Alphabet Song here.  Next project, the husband promised he’ll buy him a drum set come Christmas time.

Patriotic Asher

Image0806

Here’s another recent snapshot of Asher.  This time, showing his patriotic side.  His Daddy was watching a boxing bout featuring a Filipino boxer.  When Asher heard the Philippine National Hymn being sung before the game began, he stood in front of the TV, glued his eyes silently to the scenes as he gave respect (putting his right hand on his left chest) to the Philippine flag.

SAHM’s Other Ways To Earn

I don't have immediate plans yet of going back to the corporate world but I'm planning of some other ways to earn while I'm at home aside from blogging. It may sound a little idealistic but I like to explore the world of cosmetology, study in a school similar to a Florida cosmetology School and maybe put up a salon in the neighborhood. It may sound amusing since I'm not really a makeup guru or of that sort but managing a salon doesn't mean you have to be an expert in that field. Besides, take the case of Regency Beauty Institute, they provide quality cosmetology education and gives nothing but topnotch training for their students. With such beauty schools, one can make it big in the world of cosmetology.

Don Asher

Image0807

When I saw this yesterday morning while Asher was watching his favorite movie, Up, I hurriedly grabbed my phone to take a picture of how he’s so relaxingly lounged on the couch.  He fits perfectly and perhaps, he’s deeply gratified by the soft and cozy seat.  Even the husband was chuckling when he saw his dear little Don Asher.

New Bendita

I’ve repeatedly mentioned how Asher was so lovingly drawn to his pet fishes.  But sadly, Bendita died on the day typhoon Basyang wreaked havoc in the metropolis.  The husband theorized that Bendita could not hold on any longer to an oxygen-less tank after not having electric power for more than 12 hours.  Asher was beyond sad but did not cry.  We just bought him a new goldfish which he also named as “Bendita”.

Deeply Exhausted

I really feel bad that I have not been able to update this blog about how the little one is doing these days.  With a sigh, I can’t do anything but repeatedly mumble, so many things to do, so little time.  I know I have always said that I’ve been swamped with work many times but the recent weeks were different.  I was never this exhausted and sleep deprived like how I am now. But I’m not complaining though as I see these as blessings.  It’s what I aspire so I can help the husband pay off the bills, the amortization and all other household expenses.  I am also trying to save and hopefully, be able to invest in gold coins soon.  I heard precious metal investment is promising and profitable.  How I wish I hit the jackpot lottery so I can be a millionaire in a snap and need not work.

Weekend Tantrums Galore

I don't know what's with the weekend that Asher is a bit uncontrollable and his tantrums close to being unmanageable..always. Earlier after lunch, he asked for my milk and requested that we go to the bedroom as he's already sleepy. He also insisted that his Daddy go up with us. After lounging on the bed for about 30 minutes, he still was restless and suddenly asked for his Yayie. He said, "Ayaw na Mommy, Yayie lang". I asked if he wanted his Yayie to lull him to sleep and he said yes. So we went down and looked for Yayie. He asked for a bottled milk this time so when he was settled on the couch (as he preferred), I went up and tried to sleep. But lo and behold, I haven't even closed my eyes, I heard him wailing and sounded as if he was calling me. I went down again, fetched him but upon reaching the bed, he was antsy again and insisted that he wants his Yayie. :sigh: I really wonder what's with his being fickle-minded and why he is always like this on weekends. I think zits are sprouting all over my face because of this and needing the best acne treatments. I guess he just misses his Daddy so much whom he rarely see during weekdays because of work that's why he's trying to catch his attention?

Educational Pre-Need Plan.

Yesterday, my twitter pals were discussing about their insurance plans and pre-need educational plans for their kids. As I've blogged before, we did not get any for Asher because we're reluctant about the current standing of pre-need plans in the country today. One by one, it seems that even what used to be the biggest, most respected and trusted pre-need companies before have crumbled one by one. But I don't know, we're not really shutting our doors. A friend forwarded a quotation of a different type of plan for her daughter and it looks promising. Now I'm also prompted to click here and look for a similar plan I can consider getting for my son. If the details are as worthwhile and cost-effective as that of my friend, I'd likely convince the husband that we get one now.

Father Asher

The words of the officiating priest who baptized Asher are still clearly inscribed in my mind. That, as Catholic parents, it is our duty to guide and raise him as a God-fearing child. It is our role to teach him who God is in our lives and how we should regard Him.

It is in this light why we make sure that we religiously attend the mass as a family every Sunday. Ever since, even he was just a baby, I always make sure to pray with him every night. And I'm glad that as young as he is, he's growing up a religious kid. He looks forward to go to the Church, drop coins into the collection box during the offertory part of the mass and make "mano" to the priest after the mass. He's deeply fond of priests and he even imitates them here at home. He makes use of his crayons as sprinkler and the little stacking cups as his holy water pot. He pretends to give out Communion to us after which he reminds us to say "Amen". He turns away, then bow down then utter "Amen!". He lays over his hands to our heads and say "God Bless!".

He's really a keen observer as he sees all these at the Sunday Mass. In fact, he was so attentive as he watched closely the priest who officiated Little Mansion's blessing a week ago. So just imagine how he was so willing when Father called him and let him sat on his lap.

At last night's bedtime prayer, hubby and I were so glad that he is more engaging now:
Mommy: In the name of the Father...
Asher: son....oyi...spiyit...Amen! (as he does the sign of the cross)

He also added the following after we've said our blessing request prayer for every member of the family:
Asher: Bes adwa...bes ben-di-tah..bes jumong..bes ma-gie (Bless Agua, bless Bendita, bless Jumong, bless Margie)

Those were his pet fishes and my in laws' pet dog and cat in Frisco. I'm really glad that he's picking up our teaching so well. I hope he'll grow up closer to God, appreciative of even small blessings (like NC short term health insurance) and adapt all the Christian values that are expected of us. Who knows, Asher might even become Father Asher some day..that would be great!

Eating By Himself

Look who has just discovered that eating at the dining table is actually fun.

Ever since we transferred here to our new home and got a new dining table, the little one has started to join us at the dining table..sitting alone and eating by himself. Finally, his high chair will now retire and will be kept in the storage room for good. I also noticed that his appetite has drastically improved. He's eating all the time! You will see him munching every now and then. Yesterday, he requested a second serving of his fave paksiw na bangus lunch then consumed one and a half slice of brazo de mercedes for dessert. Whoa!

*Way to go, Asher. May you always have that appetite so that you'll gain weight and people will stop thinking that you're drinking a quick weight loss product that's why you have a skinny built.*

Do also notice his proper usage of the spoon and fork. Awww, my baby is indeed no longer a baby.

28th Month.

Dearest Cher-cher,

Your 28th month will be forever memorable because we celebrated this milestone of your life here in our Little Mansion, a simple dwelling that we can finally call our "own". Since you're now mentally capable to understand a little about what's going on in your environment, I anticipated that you'll find difficulties in adjusting. But so far, I'm proud to say that you're doing very well. In fact, you instantly felt "at home". As if cued, you seemingly made "pasikat" to our Little Mansion because of the surprising development and antics you showcased in an instant:

1. We've taken off diapers from our weekly budget because you resist to be put on with such...even at night and when we're going out. With that, I congratulate you for being nappy-free and 100% fully potty trained. Thank you for making the training easy for Mommy. :) During the three weeks that you've been nappy free at night, there were only a couple of accidents you've made while the rest, we woke up to a dry and "flood-free" bedding.

2. The idea of drinking milk from a glass was also introduced to you and you enjoyed the first time you did it. You refused to be helped as you want to lift the glass up by yourself. So after being nappy-free, it seems that you'll also be bottle-free soon.

3. You're eating a lot these days. This is mainly caused by the easy access to food that is made available to you. You love opening the doors of the fridge and since we now have the whole ref to ourselves to fully stuff with food, your eyes twinkle and you're easily tempted to grab whatever your taste buds feel like tasting.

4. You're certainly a lot talkative now. You can string together four to five words to construct a sentence and convey your thoughts.

5. You're truly a fun loving tot. I love how you make silly faces and make comical antics.

6. You absolutely make me laugh so hard whenever you giggly exclaim "Baho! Utot cher-cher!". It's as if you're proudly announcing that a colon cleanse treatment was effective on you.

7. You now also sit with us at the dining table during meal times...and you insist that you eat by yourself. In fact tonight, you claimed Daddy's "head of the family" seat to be yours.

8. You also sleep longer now and wakes up so late na. In Frisco, you were up as early as 6 am, but here, you've been most of the time waking up at 8 am. Your afternoon nap times were remarkably longer, too and averages about 3 hours a day. One hour was just your usual nap duration then.

9. You always try to sneak on us and bravely go up and down our stairs by yourself.

10. You love feeding your fish pets Agua and Bendita. You exclaim "Hala! abang sila.." when you see that your fishes are anxiously waiting in one corner waiting to be fed.

11. You are scared to death (and cry) whenever you see a moving insect especially a fly or a cockroach. You also fear the foreman doing the construction here in our compound.

12. You can already sing by yourself the whole Alphabet Song only you say "A B C D eh eh G" on the first part. But nevertheless, you've got the melody right."

13. Your favorite bedtime book now is "Five Little Monkeys". You have a clear understanding of the story as you would complete/say the following lines:
"Monkey..hulog..bed"
"Mama..hulog ako" (referring to the little monkey's dialogue with their Mom)
"Mama call doctor"
And when I say the line "Mama called the doctor and the doctor said..", you finish it with "No more monkeys uhhmmm bed".

I'm so happy to witness all these, anak. It only shows that you're growing and developing well. Thank you for keeping us inspired.

Xoxo,
Mommy

Music To My Ears.

Before resuming my online works tonight, I found myself browsing my tagged pictures on Facebook. These photos consist of my bridal days, pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, post natal and the current ones. Size and weight wise, there really is a huge difference. I used to be 100-ish pounds way back my post wedding days. Taking a look at my built now, I guess you'll also agree that I look better then. Perhaps, this is the very seal of motherhood to me. And I'll only be able to regain back my average weight after weaning the little one from my milk. I may be a lot thinner now but the good news is that, I look like I do not age at all..well, that's as testified by many. They say that I do not absolutely need to learn more about hgh supplements to reverse signs of aging because I still look as youthful as before. And that, is music to my ears.

The Future Bench Model

My little Tipaklong was in his comical attitude again this morning. Before taking his bath, he foolishly paraded without clothes on exposing his scrawny little body with a goofy face. I can't help but laugh because he really stands by his monicker "tipaklong".

But who knows, this little tipaklong will grow up with a voluptuous body built enough to earn him a spot in the 2032 Bench Fashion Show.

I've been seeing today titillating snapshots and previews of the Bench Uncut Fashion Show held last night at the Araneta Coliseum. And oh boy, I'm so impressed how the models and celebrities have achieved those glorious and sexy bodies. The muscles of the male models remind me of the sexy Greek god Adonis who has rippling abs and a rock hard physique. I deeply wonder if it's an end product of a religious workout or if they have coupled it with constant perusal and usage of body building products from www.supplementing.com/supplements/body-building-supplements/. Whatever and however they achieved their dreamy bodies, one thing's for sure. A lot of women surely got excited and pleased with what they saw.

Humidifier Vs. Dehumidifier

I was recently tasked to do a research about furnace filters. At first, I was adamant about doing this and thought of passing it up because with all honesty, I'm still greatly confused about humidifiers and dehumidifiers..on as to when and under which circumstance should they be used. Thankfully, this assignment made me aware of the answer. It's not as confusing as it seems, actually. In a nutshell, a humidifier brings low air moisture levels to where they need to be. During winter time when humidity levels inside homes are low, a humidifier should be used so that the needed moisture are put into the air. On the other hand, it is mostly during summer time when a dehumidifier should be used when the air that we breathe becomes saturated with water, is sticky and harder to breath. High humidity levels can be brought forth down by a dehumidifier.

So there, as my son is prone to asthma when afflicted with cough, I know better now how to address his needs as the weather changes with the use of humidifiers and dehumidifiers.
